The Broken Shoulders Project inspires the wounded to heal themselves by presenting the reading of brief plays centered on a real person facing and triumphing over the effects of his or her trauma. We intentionally present these plays as table readings so that anyone can read any part, crossing centuries, ages, genders, religions, and races, and therefore be able to more directly experience what another experienced. The play being read on September 16th is entitled Wiesel's Mirror and presents the moment when Elie Wiesel broke through his fears and the deep trauma of his Holocaust experience to finally begin the creation of his seminal book, Night.
